The short version: Reefwell doesn’t collect your data. There’s no account, no ads, no analytics, and no tracking. Your tank data stays on your devices and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud account, which we can’t see.
What Reefwell stores
Reefwell only stores what you put into it, so it can show it back to you:
- Your tanks, test results, target ranges, and units
- Journal entries and notes, such as water changes, doses, and livestock
- Photos you choose to add to your journal
- Reminders, alert settings, and app preferences
None of this is sent to us. We don’t run servers that receive your data.
Where your data lives
Your data is stored on your iPhone, inside Reefwell’s own storage. Reefwell’s widgets read it on the same device. The automatic backups Reefwell makes are also kept on your device.
iCloud sync
Reefwell can sync your data between your devices using Apple’s iCloud. Synced data is kept in your private iCloud database, tied to your Apple Account. We, the developers, can’t access it. iCloud is provided by Apple and covered by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
If you’re not signed in to iCloud, or you turn off iCloud for Reefwell in iOS Settings, Reefwell keeps working with your data on this device only.
Photos
Reefwell only uses the photos you pick to add to a journal entry. It saves a resized copy with your other Reefwell data, on your device and in your iCloud if sync is on. Photos are never sent to us.
Notifications
Reminders and alerts are scheduled on your iPhone by Reefwell itself. We don’t run a notification server. Reefwell asks your permission before sending notifications, and you can change that at any time in iOS Settings.
Purchases
Reefwell Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple handles payment, and we never see your payment details. Reefwell checks whether you have Pro using Apple’s purchase system on your device.
Exports and backups you share
When you export a CSV file or a backup, Reefwell creates the file on your device and you choose where it goes, such as Files, AirDrop, or email. After that, it’s handled by whatever service you chose.
Crash reports
Reefwell contains no crash-reporting or analytics code. If you’ve chosen to share analytics with app developers in iOS (Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Analytics & Improvements), Apple may give us anonymous crash and performance reports. You can turn that off at any time.
What we don’t do
- No account or sign-up
- No ads, and no advertising identifiers
- No analytics, tracking, or third-party code in the app
- No selling, renting, or sharing your data, and no data brokers
- No access to your location, contacts, or health data
Deleting your data
- Single items: delete readings, entries, or tanks in the app. They go to Settings ▸ Recently Deleted for 30 days, then are removed for good.
- Everything on a device: deleting the Reefwell app removes its data, including the backups it keeps on that device.
- Your iCloud copy: deleting the app doesn’t remove data synced to iCloud. To remove it, open iOS Settings, tap your name, then iCloud, and manage your storage to delete Reefwell’s data.
Because we don’t hold a copy of your data, there’s nothing for us to delete on our side.
This website
reefwell.app doesn’t use cookies, analytics, or trackers. It’s hosted on Cloudflare, which handles standard technical information such as your IP address to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
If you email us, we’ll receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to reply to you.
Children
Reefwell is not directed to children, and it doesn’t collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the effective date above. If Reefwell ever starts collecting any data, we’ll update this policy and the App Store privacy details before that change ships.
